BrowserCam's Remote access Service can be accessed using any VNC client. We provide a Java VNC client as part of the service, but downloading and installing any one of the clients listed below will result in signficantly improved usability (the Java VNC client mouse and the screen refresh rate can sometimes be a little slow.) All the VNC Clients listed here are Open Source and are not affiliated with BrowserCam. Obviously, we will only provide technical support for BrowserCam related questions and issues.

  • Ultr@VNC -- If your computer is Windows
  • RealVNC -- If your computer is Windows or Linux
  • TightVNC -- If your computer is Windows or Linux
  • OSXVNC -- If your computer is Macintosh
  • Chicken of the VNC -- If your computer is Macintosh
  • There are others.
Which one do I pick (i.e. what's the difference)?
Aside from chosing a client that will run on your own computer, the core functionality is pretty much identical. They all offer different feature sets (e.g. FTP, Chat, etc.) but you can't use any of the extra features with BrowserCam so it doesn't much matter which one you pick. We use Ultr@VNC around the office and home, but only because I've made some small contributions to the code base and UltraVNC uses an actual windows driver instead of polling which lightens the server load, but that won't matter to you because you're client side.
