Gameplay

In Bejeweled Blitz the player takes turns removing one or two jewels of their choice from three rows (the top row of gems can be removed without endangering other players). In Bejeweled Blitz, gold has been replaced with green, which can be paired with either purple or blue. The player scores points for chains up to five gems the length of their streak. A player receives a bonus when they complete a chain of six or more gems, this is known as the Midnight Surprise.

Game Modes

This game has four main game modes: Classic, Score Attack; Time Attack, and Blitz.

Classic Mode is the basic mode of play in Bejeweled Blitz. In Classic Mode, there are three types of gems; reds, blues, and greens that create chain reactions when they are placed next to other gems matching their color in a horizontal line to create higher scores and bonuses. The gems must be placed on the third column on the board.

Timed And Challenging

There are also time limits for each level that range from 10 seconds to about 2 minutes depending on how difficult each level is and after each round players are given a certain amount of bonus seconds to use if they are still in it. If the player goes for as little as 11 seconds, the time and bonus seconds will not be awarded.

Bonuses

The player earns a score multiplier when they complete a match longer than three gems. The score multiplier increases by 2 each level for every two chains made up to five chains and then by 1 each chain until 10 or more chains are completed. The maximum score multiplier is x12 thus reaching x12 can be achieved in 32 levels.

Score Attack Mode

Score Attack is essentially the same as Classic Mode but the gem types and board size are all randomly chosen with no limit on how long a game can last; the goal is to earn a high score under a time limit.
